“Canoe Silhouette” is one of my forays into the medium of Scratchboard. This particular rendering is actually a combination of techniques. I used blank, or un-coated, scratchboard paper and applied the ink to the areas that were going to be the darkest, basically, the lower half of the rendering. Then I scraped away the ink to show the water and reeds around the canoe. The upper half of the rendering was completed using the opposite technique, adding ink to blank area to show the sky.
