Original pen & ink rendering. “Yaquina Head Lighthouse” is one of 10 Oregon Coast lighthouses in my Lighthouse Gallery. Seven of these are open to the public, and one, Cleft of the Rock Lighthouse, is a private residence. Located off U.S. Hwy. 101, 3 miles north of Newport, the 93-foot-high tower of Yaquina Head Lighthouse is the tallest on the Oregon coast, standing at 162 feet above sea level. Illuminated in 1873, the automated light serves as an aid to navigation along seacoast and at entrance to Yaquina Bay. Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area offers close-up views of seabird nesting area, exhibits and trails to tide pools which are accessible year-round.
