Original pen & ink portrait. Quanah Parker was Chief of the Comanches, born to Cynthia Parker, an abducted settler white woman and Chief Noconas. As a young warrior, Quanah Parker led the Kwahadi Comanche band in treacherous attacks against the "white" intruders and settlers. After his surrender in 1875, Quanah Parker became a shrewd, dynamic leader of the reservation. He died in 1911 and was buried next to his mother. This portrait was completed using stroke work and cross-hatching strokes.
