Willie Nelson, the iconic American musician, is one of the most recognized artists in country music. Singer, songwriter, author, poet, actor and activist, he has been entertaining America and the world since the early 60’s. He has acted in over 30 films, co-authored several books and been involved in activism to fight hunger, as well as for the use of biofuels and the legalization of marijuana. He was one of the main figures of outlaw country, a subgenre of country music that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound. This portrait was completed in pen & ink, using a combination of stroke work and the pointillism, or stippling technique.
